Getting through the holidays without putting on the pounds

So this post is going to be a little different from anything I’ve done in the past. It’s not a recipe, home project or cleaning tutorial. It’s more of a tutorial on how to get through the holidays without putting on the traditional 8-12 pounds.

Late this summer I was introduced to a health and wellness company by a friend I’ve known for almost 20 years(ok…yikes that makes me sound ancient but we met in jr high! Either way, you don’t need to do the math…I’d rather you not). She didn’t push anything on me, she didn’t try to sell me on anything. She was just discussing her journey over the last year to get truly healthy. She came across a company called Plexus. They offer products(14 total ranging from a daily vitamin to lotion) that help people get healthy from the inside out. Like me, she had tried diets, exercising, counting calories etc. with no results.

I’ve been to boot camps, health coaches and doctors. The consensus was always a shoulder shrug and good bye handshake. My blood work always came back stellar and the doctors would just say everything looks great they weren’t sure why the scale didn’t reflect that. I’m a super practical person so the traditional advice of if you put in a certain # of calories and you burn x amount you will lose weight. That makes sense! It works out mathematically so how could I argue with that? Simple. But it didn’t work. I counted calories, did kick-butt cardio(I even did P90X for months) and my body refused to drop weight. Soooooooooo frustrating. After a decade of frustration I had no hope. I was grappling with accepting the way I looked and felt as the new normal. I struggled with being content with my physical plight but I honestly didn’t think anything would change my outlook.

I was introduced to the HCG Diet(If you can lose weight any other way I would NOT recommend this diet) and lost weight but stabilizing at my new lower weight was impossible and I would eventually(usually quickly) be right back where I started.

Ahhhh this is too long already and I haven’t even gotten to the exciting part….ok skipping some details….blah blah blah…aaaaaaaaand enter Plexus. I asked my friend to recommend the products she thought would be best to detox my body and she recommended their tri-plex(you can view it here). It was a powder drink, a probiotic and a biocleanse(mostly magnesium) and by day 3 I was sold. I’m now coming up on my 2 month mark and I know I will never be without these products. They truly are amazing. The fact that the company’s goal is getting people healthy on the inside and one of the benefits is it showing on the outside, really resonated with me. I take Slim(helps regulate blood sugar, encourages your body to metabolize food/stored fat properly so you have steady energy without crashing), probio5(my favorite product by far. It helps restore your gut’s balance of bacteria by killing off bad bacteria and encouraging growth of good bacteria. This probiotic is a serious game changer for my entire family), Biocleanse(helps rid your body of toxins). Here’s a list of my progress just 2 short months in:

  • No food/sugar cravings
  • Feeling full between meals
  • Energy that lasts all day
  • Nearing 10 pounds of weight loss!!!! ahhh!!!!
  • Craving water
  • No more need for caffeine(coffee/soda)
  • Only 2 headaches,both from dehydration(I averaged 2-3 a week)
  • Better sleep, waking refreshed
  • Can now tolerate dairy. Yay cheese!!!

I seriously can’t wait to be a year in. My husband just made his first order πŸ™‚ So all that info to say – there is another way to get through the holidays. One that doesn’t end with us buying bigger pants πŸ™‚ If you are at all interested in learning more about how Plexus may help you please send me a message and I’d love to chat with you about it πŸ™‚ I think besides the obvious health benefits, the most precious thing Plexus has given me is hope. I’m so very relieved that the “new me” doesn’t have to be the unhealthy version. I’m ecstatic that I get to be a rep for a company that is literally changing lives for the better. The products are top quality, helping your body function the way it’s supposed to. Helping restore people’s health, that’s pretty exciting πŸ™‚

It’s not a diet, it’s not a meal replacement, it’s a supplement πŸ™‚
